Work package 5 draws together and assesses the overall results of the project. Final reports will be

compiled that summarize the project achievements, highlight successful business stories, introductory strategies and methodologies and illustrate a ‘Good Practice Framework’ for evaluating introductory strategies, methodologies and scenarios. At the project’s conclusion, a closing conference will be held where the project’s overall accomplishments and the challenges and perspectives for residential broadband deployment in the targeted regions will be presented in an open forum.

At the end of the project an integrated and comprehensive web portal containing project information, the ‘Good Practice

Framework’, publishable data, benchmarking and survey results, case studies, presentations, links to participants and a search utility will be available and accessible to the public (part of it will be restricted and require authentication).

An access network technological roadmapping activity will be undertaken by BReATH partners with the goal to outline the possible development scenarios for various access network technologies. Our vision/conclusions will be included in the final project report. Roadmapping will entail the following:

  1. identification of existing infrastructure and the areas where development is needed
  2. identification of existing and new services as well as bandwidth demand requirements and related growth
  3. identification of market opportunities and specific requirements (e.g. specific communities to be served, geographical distribution and other characteristics)
  4. presentation of the state of the art in the relevant market and technological segments
  5. technology evaluation and comparison of enabling technologies
  6. technology feasibility study in terms of development and cost effectiveness as well as evolution potential
  7. investigation of market entry opportunities
  8. broadband connectivity readiness
  9. mapping of relevant activities around Europe and globally.
