The FP6 project COCOMBINE – Competition, Contents and Broadband for the Internet in Europe is an FP6 SSA project that evaluates the social and economic impact of widespread broadband use across Europe. COCOMBINE focuses on developing the knowledge and tools to understand the markets for: long distance transit, public peering and broadband access. The project also examines issues such as the Interconnection charges and bandwidth pricing in the upstream market, termination rates and access prices for accessing unbundled local loops and for wireless access, the regulation and competition policies for the Internet all of which are of interest to the BReATH project. Our consortium will establish synergies with the COCOMBINE project and co-ordinate its activities as to further disseminate knowledge accumulated by both projects.
