DAIDALOS – Designing Advanced network Interfaces for the Delivery and Administration of Location independent, Optimised personal Services is an integrated project from the 6 Framework Programme of EU. The DAIDALOS consortium is comprised of telecom operators (e.g. T-Systems, Portugal Telecom, Telenor, Telefonica, ERA Poland, Telecom Italia, France Telecom, OTE), manufacturers (e.g. Lucent, Motorola, Siemens), academic and SME participants. The main objectives of the project are design, prototype and validation of the necessary infrastructure and components for efficient distribution of services over diverse network technologies beyond 3G, and integration of complementary network technologies to provide pervasive and user-centred access to these services. The DAIDALOS approach will enable the end user to interact with devices in their environment and to have personalised access to feature rich services and applications, including the ones based on pervasive computing, intelligent context-awareness and extended personalisation. Cooperation with the DAIDALOS project will be realized by different activities. Representatives of the DAIDALOS project will be invited to the BReATH events to give the latest inside into the new and emerging technologies and services. The DAIDALOS project will also serve as one of the main knowledge sources in the area of wireless and mobile communications and pervasive services. Regular results transfer will be achieved through Jozef Stefan Institute which is actively participating in both projects.
